Pinecrest Police follow a modified community-based policing model. Our low crime rate allows our police to work directly with the Community and solve problems together.
Several tools exist for you to communicate with Village Police. The police now have an app called “SAFERWATCH.” Easy to download on Apple and Google Play. The app gives you current safety tips and safety concerns. You may also report any suspicious activity, even anonymously if you want.
Speeding problem in your area? You can report this through SAFERWATCH, by emailing the police at police@pinecrest-fl.gov or by calling the non-emergency line at 305-234-2100. You will get a voice! You will have a real discussion with members of the department, like Lt. Ivan Osores or Deputy Chief Jason Cohen. The police will speed test the area with “pelican cages” or “radar trackers.” The Village Police will study the problem and circle back to you with results. If a problem is confirmed, a patrol unit will be placed there to clock vehicles, issue tickets, and otherwise serve as a speeding deterrent.
I’m proud of my three years working on community-based policing with the United States Department of Justice. I am proud to have hosted Crime Watch training at my home with the Pinecrest Police. If elected to Council, I pledge that I will work with the dedicated men and women in the Village Police and build on and improve our community-based model.
Yours in Service,
Shannon Del Prado
