Village Police Offer Watch Orders

Friends,

We have 6100 homes in Pinecrest.  I continue to walk and knock on doors to learn about residents’ concerns.  Almost universally, residents are happy to live in Pinecrest.

Some residents have, however, shared concerns about break-ins. Families are taking trips. Some are taking their kids to college.  If you are leaving town, your home could become an easy crime of opportunity.

Pinecrest offers help here.  It is called a “Watch Order.” The Village Police will implement a Watch Order on your home if you request it.  It is easy to do. On the Village Website, you can set it up in a simple, user-friendly way. www.pinecrest-fl.gov/government/police/e-services-forms/watch-orderInput the dates you will be gone and the Village Police will patrol your home.  You can also make the request on the MyPinecrest App, by visiting the Village in person or calling 305-234-2100.

Additionally, with monies obtained from forfeitures (and not through a tax), the Village recently equipped our patrol officers with heat-sensitive, night-vision instruments. If, for example, someone is hiding in the bushes, patrolling officers can discern the image.

We should all be mindful to report any crime.  The Village has a crime analysis team that studies Village trends. If there is an uptick in a given area, Village Police directs undercover units to patrol the area.

If elected to serve on the Council, I will continue to look for ways to make our families and homes safe.  I pledge to always listen to your concerns, communicate with you effectively, provide answers, and to find solutions.
